We’re Ryan and Scott, and we believe retirement should be some of your best years.
But if your finances aren’t optimized for retirement, it’s harder for that to happen.
Retirement comes with complex decisions…
Can you safely retire and start living off your investments?
How do you turn your investments into income?
Should you position your investments differently?
What about your healthcare before and after Medicare?
And how do you avoid overpaying in taxes and leaving the IRS a tip?
We started IronKOOR Retirement to help you answer all these questions and more, so you can be financially positioned for retirement to be some of your best years.

How It All Started
Being the eldest of four, the drive to be a great role model and always create positive experiences for my siblings and those around me, really stuck. Maybe to a fault, I always want to find a YES — ask my wife!
One of the greatest lessons my parents taught me is to always do the right thing and treat everyone with respect. Now having the opportunity to teach my kids the same lessons makes me appreciate how I was raised even more.
And with the opportunity to help clients plan for retirement, I always put their best interests first.
How I Got Here
I started my working career at a larger regional bank, taking on every role from a banker, an assistant manager, a branch manager, and a wealth management banker. Looking back, I truly credit a lot of my success to the invaluable lessons and life-long relationships from that time in my professional life.
Life is funny and sometimes uses forcing mechanisms to not only test your perseverance, but I believe guide you to your next step in the journey. This all eventually led me to founding Tishy Financial LLC in 2023, now better known as IronKOOR Retirement, LLC. Although an unconventional journey, the drive to serve clients and better their financial lives, has never wavered.
Outside of the Office
I have been married for sixteen amazing years! Kristen and I have two beautiful daughters, Kayden and Reese (the K and R in KOOR). We have three fur babies, Sassy, Navy, and Splinter. Surprisingly, our house is always clean! When I’m not working, I enjoy golfing (cliché, I know), spending time with my family and friends, and working out — avoiding a dad bod at all costs.

How It All Started
Growing up, I was responsible for completing weekly chores. Everything I did had to pass an inspection (typically by my dad, who was in the Navy reserves). If he found dust or dirt with his finger, I had to start over.
Despite finding it unfair at the time, I look back and realize that experience gave me my work ethic. The lesson — do it right the first time — stuck. Since then, I’ve struggled to do just about anything quickly. I care more about being thorough and doing it right. Just ask my wife, Emily.
And when I help clients plan for their retirement, I care about doing everything right the first time.
How I Got Here
After graduating college, I found myself in an accounting role with a large Medicare broker, but knew it wasn’t for me. So I tried being a Medicare Advisor. I was educating clients about Medicare and guiding them through the transition. Two years later I was researching how to become a financial advisor after many Medicare clients started asking if I could also help them with their retirement. I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
I’ve since worked at two local independent advisory firms over the last several years, and was Director of Wealth Management Services in my last role. I gained invaluable experience working with all types of clients, and am grateful I was at firms where I got to do real financial planning.
But when Ryan asked me to join him so we could build a firm to serve those in and near retirement the way we wanted, I couldn’t say no.
Outside of the Office
I’m married with two kiddos (Owen and Olivia – the two O’s in KOOR) and three fur babies (two yellow labs named Ruby and Rosie and a lab beagle named Titus).
I first met Ryan at the gym at Wright State University in 2006. We connected because we both loved to workout and play poker. Twenty years later, and I still love to workout regularly.
I’m a big believer in spending money on things that you value. What’s important to me is my family, friends, health, and experiences. Squeezing in as much time and experiences with the kids while they’re young is the best money well spent in my book.
What we hold ourselves to
Listen First
You have questions, concerns, and things on your mind about your finances and your retirement. What is most important to us is that every time we interact, you walk away feeling like you were heard, your questions and concerns were answered, and you have greater clarity and peace of mind.
Do What We Say We’ll Do
We know how frustrating it is to hire someone for help, only to find they fail to live up to their word. We follow through and deliver on our word every single time because anything else is unacceptable to us.
Educate and Inform
We know this stuff can be confusing and overwhelming. We’ll never use industry jargon on you. We stick to plain English and explain things in a way you can understand. That way, you can feel educated and informed about your financial situation and your options, and together, we can make decisions that will improve your retirement.
